PRINTED PUBLICATIONS

The publication «Olympia. A journey in four dimensions» is a "digital album" with three-dimensional photorealistic digital representations of the most important buildings of ancient Olympia, which are presented with an emphasis on historical accuracy and constructional details. For the first time, the site of ancient Olympia, as it was in its heyday, is presented in printed form, exclusively with digital images.

The main part of the book consists of large color snapshots of the individual monuments and general views of the site where the Olympic Games were born. Architectural monuments and spaces that are not preserved in their original form are brought to life with the help of computers and the use of 3D graphics programs.

The book was published in the context of the activities of FHW for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. At the same time, a series of twelve collector's postcards with selected moments from the publication was also issued. The three-dimensional digital images have been produced entirely by the 3D Graphics and Animation Department of the Foundation’s Digital Productions Sector.

The book is available in the shop of the Cultural Center "Hellenic Cosmos."
